This holiday season, I made a brief stop at Hammock Beach Resort with my family on our way further south to Disney. I was fortunate to experience the property as a leisure guest – but I still took to time explore the hotel and all that it offers for groups.
Our balcony on the 13th floor provided sweeping views of the Ocean Course. With six holes that put the players right on the very edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the course is lauded for its charm and beauty and often mentioned in lists of the country’s best resort courses. We played the course on our second day and although the wind kept me from finishing all 18 holes, what I did see was fantastic. The course provides a challenge for low handicap players while delighting less skilled players with scenic views at every turn.
The property is collection of very spacious condos. All individually appointed, they feature fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryers, and large central areas – perfect for entertaining.
Sadly, the winter weather prevented us from experiencing the resorts Water Pavilion with a lazy river and water slide.
During our second evening, we all boarded the Sundancer Yacht – an inter-coastal dinner cruise perfect for private events for groups. This two hour cruise on the 117′ yacht is outfitted to exacting standards and features two bars, full galley, lounge with fireplace, HDTV, private office/dressing room and an enclosable rear deck. The food was delicious and cocktails perfect.
Hammock Beach is the ideal destination for a group of 10 or 200. Now part of Salamander Hospitality (the newest venture of Shelia Johnson, founding partner of BET), the property is primed to continue to improve and enhance an already sensational experience.
