One fateful day last November, Danielle and I were sitting in her office plugging away on resort profiles, planning 2014 HB Hospitality events, and putting together notebooks when she turned to me and asked, “Wait, you are graduating in May, right?” I thought to myself, “Yes?” And that’s when we both wondered why we were ending our partnership after our final trip to Montage Laguna Beach for the Women’s Executive Hospitality Summit. So it was decided. I would no longer be “the fall intern” and I would become her part-time “hospitality coordinator” which was music to my ears.
Throughout my stint here as an intern, I have learned copious amounts from Danielle even beyond the Hospitality and Resort Industry. She has taught me about entrepreneurship, marketing, sales, and time-management. Just being around her fun and sparkling personality has been a joy. We love crossing things off our to-do list on the white board, listening to Pandora while we work, and some days we even finish early because of how effective her methods are and how resourceful she truly is. This has been an incredible learning experience and I could not be more excited to be back with Danielle and HB Hospitality for 2014!
My favorite part of last semester however had to be our time in Laguna Beach, CA for the Women’s Summit. Besides the beautiful 80 degree weather in mid-December, I met some amazing women, networked with intelligent ladies from both sides of the Resort and Event Planning industries, and got to see the final product of what we do here in Durham. It was wonderful to see our notebooks, summit boards, and agendas in action and to see all of the planning transformed into a full fledged event at the Montage in Laguna Beach.
Here’s to another wonderful year with HB Hospitality!
